STATESBORO, Ga. - The Georgia Southern Women's Tennis Team dropped their first conference match of the 2019 season on the road in Louisiana. The Eagles went up against ULM in a heated battle up until the last swing. The War Hawks ultimately defeated the Eagles, 3-4. 

The Blue and White gave up the doubles points early on to the War Hawks sending them into singles ahead. The Eagles made a comeback tying the match multiple times throughout singles.  Emilia Bujan defeated Tiffany Phaysouphan, 2-6, 7-5, 7-5. Paula Boixader took down Teodora Radu at No. 3, 6-2, 6-1. Luisa Hrda was able to top Florencia Salerno, 6-4, 6-1. Elizabeth Goines gave Jimena Garbino a run for her money at No. 5 singles. The two battled it out until the last second when Garbino took the match for the War Hawks.

"The women nearly pulled off an amazing hard fought battle. We are growing and getting better each day. The ULM team is amongst the best in the conference and we were inches away from pulling out the win. Losing a tight match 4-3 is never easy, but watching the team take huge steps in learning how to battle in extremely tough situations, shows me that we are truly getting better."
