STATESBORO, Ga - Stetson University defeated the Georgia Southern women's tennis team 5-2 on Friday afternoon in Statesboro at the Wallis Tennis Center. The Eagles move to 6-5 on the 2019 season.

Elizabeth Goines and Luisa Hrda came out strong and took both their singles matches. Goines defeated Danielle Peele, 3-6, 6-4, 10-2 and Hrda defeated Alexe Viaud, 6-4, 6-1 to earn two points for the Eagles. 

Paula Boixader and Elizabeth Goines defeated Danielle Peele and Alexe Viaud,  6-1, in doubles play this afternoon. The Hatters earned the doubles point by winning two doubles matches to take a 1-0 lead over the Eagles early on. 

WHAT HEAD COACH SEAN MCCAFFREY SAID
"Today was difficult. Stetson did a very good job, in some spots, of never allowing us a chance to feel comfortable. Paula and Liz played exceptionally well in doubles. Luisa and Liz did a nice job picking up their singles matches as well. We have some things to clean up this week in practice as we get ready for our first conference match next week at Georgia State.
