Eagles Soar In Vegas Past St. Francis Brooklyn, 78-47

Three Eagles set career highs as every GS player scores for a second straight contest

LAS VEGAS - Three Eagles notched career-high performances and every Georgia Southern women's basketball player scored at least two points in a 78-47 win over St. Francis Brooklyn to close out action in the 2019 Las Vegas Holiday Hoops Classic on Friday at South Point Arena.

The Eagles improved to 3-7 on the season with the win, while the Terriers fell to 4-7. Georgia Southern finished the tournament with a 1-1 mark in its second trip to Las Vegas in program history.

Freshman Mya Burns notched her first collegiate double digit scoring effort with 11 points on 5-of-8 shooting from the floor, leading a trio of Eagles in double figures. She was also named to the All-Tournament team. Sophomore Jordan Strange also had a career high with 10 points, while sophomore Tsubasa Nisbet had a career-high seven points, a day after notching her first career points as an Eagle. Tatum Barber added 10 points on 5-of-10 shooting as well.

Quotables
Anita Howard on the 31-point win over the Terriers

"That's what it's supposed to look like, that's what it's supposed to feel like. We went with a different starting lineup just because we haven't been starting that first quarter well, but the bench was active and everyone was cheering for everyone. Spirit raises performance. I'm really pleased that we are able to leave Vegas with a team win. It feels really good."

Tsubasa Nisbet on her first career start and the career highs
"It was really exciting, but I was pretty nervous. Once I was on the court, with my teammates, it was fun from the start. We got the win, so we're happy about it. We work hard every practice, so it was good to reward ourselves with the win."

Next Up
Georgia Southern breaks for Christmas but returns to action on Dec. 30, visiting Tulane for a 3 p.m. contest against the Green Wave in New Orleans, La.
