
Zaini Claims Bronze at Southeast Asian Games for Singapore

PHILIPPINES – Senior Georgia Southern hurdler Izlyn Zaini represented her country in the 2019 Southeast Asian Games over the past weekend where she won a bronze medal for her native land of Singapore.
The 30th SEA Games hosted 9,000 athletes representing 11 countries in 530 events across 56 sports. Zaini ran a 13.92 in the 100m hurdles to claim third behind Emilia Nova (1st-13.61) of Indonesia and Yen Hoa Tran Thi (2nd-13.75) of Vietnam.
Due to the event, Zaini missed the Georgia Southern track and field Indoor Clemson Opener meet this past weekend but will rejoin the Eagles for the Gamecock Opener on Jan. 17-18.
In her Georgia Southern career, Zaini has scored a total of 11 points at Sun Belt Championship meets including a fourth place showing in the 100H at the 2019 SBC Outdoor Championship where she also ran a career-best 13.88 in the preliminaries.
