
Gonzalo Talavera Earns CoSIDA Academic All-District Men's Soccer Honors

STATESBORO - Georgia Southern senior defender Gonzalo Talavera has been named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District 4 Men's Soccer team, announced today by the organization.
Talavera carries a 3.93 GPA in Business Administration - Management for the Eagles and will now be eligible for Academic All-American honors, which will be announced on December 5. The Madrid, Spain, native is a three-year starter at center back for Georgia Southern who will be graduating this December, completing his degree in just two and a half years. Talavera has started 15 matches during the 2019 season, logging 1,355 minutes of action, and was a 2018 All-Sun Belt Conference and All-Sun Belt Conference Tournament honoree.
"I'm very pleased that Gonzalo has been named to the 2019 CoSIDA Academic All-District Men's Soccer Team," Georgia Southern Head Men's Soccer Coach John Murphy said. "The acknowledgement is a reward for the hard work that he has put in both on the field and in the classroom since arriving on campus in 2017. He is an outstanding representative of our program, the athletic department and our university. I am very proud of him and look forward to working with him in the coming weeks as the most exciting part of the season is now upon us."

Talavera and the Eagles are next in action on Saturday, wrapping up the regular season with a 7 p.m. Sun Belt Conference contest at Coastal Carolina in Conway, S.C.
