Skylar Ball finished with 13 kills and five blocks, while Baylor Bumford collected 13 kills and eight blocks. Mya Wilson had 12 kills, and Carly Turner added 11 kills and five blocks for the Eagles (7-20, 2-14).
Key plays
With the match tied 1-1, the Eagles held a 23-21 lead in the third after a Bumford kill followed by an ace by Madison Brown. Leah Wilcox ignited a four-point Panther run with a kill, and Kampbell Hehr was in on a block and served an ace to end the set and give State (10-17, 6-10) a 2-1 cushion in the match.
Quotable from head coach Chad Willis
"It's a disappointing way to end the season, but I'm proud of the fight we showed. We had our opportunities in sets 1 and 3 but just couldn't quite execute when we needed it. There's a lot we can learn and take away from the season that will help us moving forward. The team understands what our expectations and standards are, so we should have a group that's ready to put in the work this offseason. I want to especially thank our seniors for everything they've invested and given to this program these past four years. We will miss them and wish them all the best in their next journeys."
Next Up
The Eagles are set to return 13 letterwinners and six starters to the 2020 roster.
