Georgia products Hannah Wise and Makenna Kulzer will also join the cross country team next season.
STATESBORO – The Georgia Southern Track and Field and Cross Country teams signed two distance runners Wednesday on National Fall Signing Day.
Hannah Wise and Makenna Kulzer signed their national letters of intent and will begin their Eagle careers in the fall of 2020.
Wise, a Jesup native, is finishing up her senior year at Wayne County High School where she runs in middle and distance events. Her personal-bests are 2:21.44 in the 800m, 5:23.77 in the 1600m and 19:55 in the 5K.
Kulzer, a Suwanee product, runs distance for North Gwinnett High School. Her career-bests include 5:19.35 in the 1600m, 11:37.80 in the 3200m and 19:31 in the 5K.
What head coach Kelly Carter had to say:
"We are very excited to have these two young ladies joining the Georgia Southern family. We look forward to having them on campus next fall."
What cross country and distance coach Wes Penberthy had to say:
"Both girls will give us some depth next year. When looking at these recruits, we asked ourselves if these are the kind of people that fit the character to build the culture of Georgia Southern, and we feel that they are. We think they will really help us continue building the program in the distance group moving forward. They will both be great assets to the team."
The Eagles will open the 2019-20 indoor track season in early December. Stay tuned to GSEagles.com as the full schedule will be released soon.
