
Nagwandala Named Sun Belt Conference Runner of The Week

STATESBORO – Sophomore runner Merabu Nagwandala was voted Sun Belt Conference Women's Runner of the Week Wednesday for the first time in her Eagles cross country career.
The Kampala, Uganda, native placed ninth overall out of 228 runners this past weekend at the FSU Invitational with a personal-best and school record time of 18:00.7 in the 5K. Her eight team points paced the Eagles to a 10th-place finish as a team out of 24.
Nagwandala won both 5K races in the previous two home meets at the Eagles XC Challenge and the GATA XC Classic earlier this season.
The cross country team competes in the newly added Sand Shark Invitational Saturday in Bluffton, South Carolina before heading to the Sun Belt Championship Nov. 2 in McDonough.
