STATESBORO – Georgia Southern sophomore student-athletes participated in a finance seminar, Banking 102, presented by Core Credit Union, Monday at Nessmith-Lane. The event is part of the Eagles in Transition/Life Beyond Sport Program.
Core Credit Union Community Events Manager Julie Morrison and Business Development Manager Wes Wilkes spoke to the student-athletes about credit management and the impact of interest rates on credit cards and car loans.
"It was another great Life Beyond Sport Event tonight," said Gleen Hart, senior associate athletics director for student-athlete development. "Thank you to Core Credit Union for presenting tonight and helping our student athletes build a sound financial future"
GS student-athletes attend a series of four financial seminars – once each year – that cover a variety of financial topics as they progress through college.
The Eagles in Transition/Life Beyond Sport Program focuses on the holistic development of Eagle student-athletes through professional, personal, leadership development, financial education and community service.
Next up on the docket is a resume workshop for sophomore student-athletes Feb. 11, at 7 p.m. in the Williams Center.
