
Tookie Brown Named First-Team All-Sun Belt for Third Straight Year

NEW ORLEANS – Georgia Southern guard Tookie Brown (Madison, Ga./Morgan County) has been named first-team All-Sun Belt for the third consecutive season, the league announced today.
The junior is the 17th player in the 42-year history of the Sun Belt to earn first-team accolades in three seasons and becomes the first Eagle to accomplish the feat in Georgia Southern history.
Brown ranks fourth in the Sun Belt in scoring (18.9 ppg), fifth in assists (4.4 apg), second in steals (1.8 spg), second in field goal percentage (.538) and leads the league in free throws attempted (218) and made (162). He is one of only two players listed under 6-feet tall ranked in the top-100 nationally in field goal percentage and also ranks 18th in the NCAA in free throw attempts, 29th in made free throws and 62nd in steals per game.
Brown was named SBC Player of the Week Dec. 12, and earned a spot on the Gulf Coast Showcase all-tournament team after leading the Eagles to the championship game. He scored 20-plus points in 15 games this season, led the Eagles in scoring in 19 contests and led the team in assists 23 times. The first Eagle to record 500 or more points in three straight seasons, Brown ranks seventh in the modern era in career scoring at Georgia Southern with 1,680 points.
Georgia Southern reached 20 wins for the second time in four years and joined Louisiana and UTA as the only three Sun Belt schools to reach double-digit conference wins in each of the last four seasons.
Seeded third in this week's Sun Belt Championship, the Eagles will meet the winner of No. 6 ULM vs. No. 11 Arkansas State Friday, March 9, at 8:30 p.m. ET on ESPN3. The Warhawks and Red Wolves face off Wednesday, March 7, at 8:30 p.m. ET.
The first-round, quarterfinal and semifinal games are set for live coverage on ESPN3 with Sunday's championship game slated for live coverage on ESPN2. All games will be available on the WatchESPN app.
