Trojans Too Much for Eagles

Eagles fall to 11-10 on the season and host two conference foe's this weekend

STATESBORO, Ga. – Georgia Southern men's tennis fell to the Trojans 4-1 on Tuesday afternoon, to open up a six match home stand inside the friendly confines of the Wallis Tennis Center. The Eagles battled from the beginning, but the Trojans continued to fight back on a crisp afternoon in Statesboro.

Eddie Landin and Diego Finkelstein began the afternoon on a high note, defeating their opponents in doubles play 6-2. Stefano Di Aloy and Artemie Amari fell behind 5-4 in their match and were able to break sets to push the match to six all and force a tiebreaker. The Trojans would win on courts two and three to give Troy a 1-0 lead heading into singles play.

In singles play the Trojans continued to press their momentum taking a quick second point on court five. Artemie Amari gave the Eagles a spark winning 6-4, 6-3 in straight sets on court four. The Trojans would be able to hold off the Eagles on courts one and two and defeat the Blue and White 4-1. The Eagles will be back in action this weekend with Georgia State, if weather allows, and Appalachian State.
 
WHAT HEAD COACH KONING SAID
"Troy deserved to win today. They were tougher than us and that is a hard thing to admit. We pride ourselves in being tough and able to outlast people. Today we didn't do that. We have a couple of days to reset and play a good Appalachian State teams."
