
Senior Student-Athletes Participate in Banking 104 Seminar

STATESBORO – Georgia Southern senior student-athletes participated in a finance seminar, Banking 104, presented by Core Credit Union, Monday at Nessmith-Lane. The event is part of the Eagles in Transition/Life Beyond Sport Program.
Core Credit Union Community Events Manager Julie Morrison and Business Development Manager Wes Wilkes spoke to the student-athletes about investing, retirement, insurance, mortgages and how to plan for car and home loans.
"Thanks to Core Credit Union for presenting tonight's Finance Seminar event Banking 104 for our Senior student athletes," said Gleen Hart, senior associate athletics director for student-athlete development. "This is another step in the program to help them develop the necessary life skills for a successful transition to life after athletics and prepare them for the ultimate competitive challenge - Life."
GS student-athletes attend a series of four financial seminars – once each year – that cover a variety of financial topics as they progress through college.
The Eagles in Transition/Life Beyond Sport Program focuses on the holistic development of Eagle student-athletes through professional, personal, leadership development, financial education and community service.
Next up on the docket is a Finance Seminar for sophomore student-athletes Jan. 29 at 7 p.m. in Nessmith Lane.
