Eagles and Bees hit the pool in a meet rescheduled from January 5th
STATESBORO, Ga. - The Georgia Southern swimming and diving team will host the top-ranked team in NAIA, SCAD-Savannah, in an 11 a.m. dual meet at the RAC Aquatics Center tomorrow. The meet, originally scheduled for January 5th, was postponed to Saturday due to the wintry weather the Coastal Empire experienced the first week of January.
The Eagles meet the Bees in a dual meet for a fourth straight year. SCAD-Savannah is currently the top-ranked women's swimming team in NAIA and the program has been one of the most successful over the last decade, capturing NAIA National Championships in 2009, 2010 and most recently 2016. The team was the national runners-up in 2017 and so far this year, have won three events, including knocking off Berry College in a dual meet on January 12th.
Georgia Southern was last in action on December 14th, dropping a dual meet to Florida International, who was ranked eighth in the latest CollegeSwimming.com Mid-Major national rankings. The Eagles' Hannah Mudge was named the CCSA's Diver of the Week following that meet, the second weekly honoree for the Eagles this season.
The two squads met last season in Savannah, with Georgia Southern picking up a 158-102 win at the Chatham Aquatics Center. The Eagles won eight of 14 events in the meet.
