STATESBORO, GA. - After five members of the 2017 Georgia Southern Baseball program were drafted in 2017, the ranks of former Eagles in the professional ranks grew again. Chris Beck leads the roster of former Eagles in the pros with 37 games played this season with the White Sox, but there has been some movement throughout the 2017 season. Those moves have brought two sets of former Eagles together in Danville, Virginia (Landon Hughes and Connor Simmons) and Rancho Cucamonga, California (Victor Roache and Jason Richman).

Chris Beck - RHP - Chicago White Sox
After getting the call in the middle of May, Beck has pitched in 37 games this season with 39.2 innings of work. He has struck out 31 batters while walking just 20. On July 25th, Beck worked an inning and a third against the defending World Champions, striking out Javier Baez and the 2016 World Series MVP Ben Zobrist.

Jarrett Leverett - RHP - Lancaster Barnstormers (Independent)
Drafted in 2012 by the Twins, Leverett has gone between independent ball and a season in the Giants organization before his current stop with Lancaster. He is 7-5 with a 5.26 ERA for the league-leading Barnstormers in 17 starts. The 27-year old has 64 strikeouts this year.

Victor Roache - OF - Rancho Cucamonga Quakes (Advanced-A / Dodgers)
After more than six seasons in the Brewers organization, Victor Roache was traded to the Los Angeles Dodgers on May 4, 2017. Currently he plays at the Advanced A level for the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes with a .202 average and a .437 slugging percentage. He has eight doubles and six home runs with 17 RBIs in 33 games in the California League. Roache currently plays with former teammate Jason Richmond in Rancho Cucamonga.

Eric Alonzo - RHP - Free Agent
Following three seasons as a farmhand with the Angels, Eric Alonzo was released just before the 2017 season. The former Eagle was signed by the Marlins where he posted a 1.21 ERA in 14 appearances between the AA and Advanced-A levels as a relief pitcher. Alonzo, however, was released on July 20, 2017 by the Marlins.

Sam Howard - LHP - Albuquerque Isotopes (AAA / Rockies)
Sam Howard's progression through the Rockies organization has continued this season. After nine starts and a 2.33 ERA to start the year, he was promoted to AAA on June 16. He has 39 strikeouts in his eight starts with the Isotopes, posting a 3-2 record.

Jason Richman - LHP - Rancho Cucamonga Quakes (Advanced-A / Dodgers)
With three seasons in the Rangers organization under his belt, including a spring training save this season, the lefty was released on May 31st. He was signed, however, on July 16th where he currently plays with the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes with former teammate Victor Roache. In his debut outing with the Quakes on July 20th, he tossed a one-hit eighth inning with a strikeout.

Landon Hughes - RHP - Danville Braves (Rookie / Braves)
Selected in the seventh round in the 2017 MLB Draft, Landon Hughes was sent to the Appalachian League along with Eagle teammate Connor Simmons. Hughes made his professional debut on June 26, working a 1-2-3 sixth inning with a strikeout on seven pitches. He has two saves in nine relief appearances.

Connor Simmons - LHP - Danville Braves (Rookie / Braves)
A 13th round selection in the 2017 MLB Draft, Connor Simmons was also sent to the Appalachian League with Eagle teammate Landon Hughes. He made his professional debut on June 29th, working a 10-pitch sixth inning. He has seven appearances and picked up his first win on July 24th against the Kingsport Mets.

Jordan Wren - OF - Lowell Spinners (Short Season-A / Red Sox)
Senior Jordan Wren was drafted in the 10th round by the Red Sox in 2017. In 14 games with the Lowell Spinners, Wren has a .250 average with three runs scored and a double. He made his debut on June 22nd as a pinch hitter against the Tri-City ValleyCats.

Logan Baldwin - OF - Salem-Keizer Volcanoes (Short Season-A / Giants)
Junior Logan Baldwin signed with the San Francisco Giants and has begun his professional career with the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes of the Northwest League in Oregon. He made his professional debut on July 2nd and is hitting .314 with three doubles and two home runs to slug .443 in 20 games.

Jacob Condra-Bogan - RHP - Unsigned
Senior Jacob Condra-Bogan was drafted in the 32nd round by the Toronto Blue Jays, but did not sign with the club.
