STATESBORO - Georgia Southern men's soccer rising sophomore Josh Bronstorph was named an honorable mention 2017 All-Southern Conference team member by the 2017 Premier Development League today.

A 5-8 midfielder from Dunwoody, Ga., Bronstorph has been playing this summer with Houston FC in the USL's PDL. As a true freshman for the Eagles last season, Bronstorph played in all 19 matches, logging 1,007 minutes and tallying two goals and two assists in Georgia Southern's Sun Belt Conference championship campaign.

For Houston FC, Bronstorph has tallied a team-leading three goals this summer, taking 37 shots in 14 matches of action.

"I spoke with Josh throughout the summer and it was obvious to me he was enjoying his time in Houston," Georgia Southern head coach John Murphy said. "It is nice to see him recognized for his work and I'm proud of his efforts. It is my belief that he will take this PDL experience and apply it to the challenges that lie ahead for the Eagles in our 2017 season. Finally, I want to thank Bruce Talbot and the Houston FC franchise for their guidance and support to Josh this PDL season."

Bronstorph will join 13 returnees this fall to help Georgia Southern defend its Sun Belt Conference regular season title. The Eagles open the 2017 season on August 25, facing Monmouth at 5 p.m. in the Aaron Olitsky Tournament in Charleston, S.C.
