Camp throws 4.1 scoreless innings in relief, Robinson and Wilson homer on Friday night
The two teams will meet for a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m. tomorrow. Before Saturday's first game, the five seniors on the 2017 squad, Amanda Chambers, Michelle Mazur, Andrea McKenzie, Morgan Robinson and Emily Snider, will be honored in a Senior Day ceremony.
Georgia State got on the board early, plating two runs in the first inning. They added on to their lead in the third when a two-run homerun and series of base hits allowed the Panthers to score another three runs and take a 5-0 lead.
Morgan Robinson and Shelby Wilson started off the sixth inning in impressive fashion, knocking back-to-back home runs and cutting their deficit. The Eagles continued to rally and plated another run in the seventh inning, but it wasn't enough as they fell 5-3.
Dixie Raley (L, 13-16) got the start in the circle and was tabbed with the loss, throwing the first 2.2 innings. Kierra Camp came in relief and threw the final 4.1 innings, not allowing a run while striking out three. Freeman led the way offensively with two hits, while Robinson, Wilson, and Meredith McLendon each had one.
