QUICK HITS
- Georgia Southern puts its Sun Belt best record of 30-15 on the line this weekend with a trip to the bayou to face Louisiana. Last time in Lafayette, the Eagles took two of three over the Cajuns in 2015. The Eagles, however, have dropped two straight games to the Cajuns including the 2016 Sun Belt Championship Game.
- Georgia Southern closed out the weekend series with a 9-2 win over Little Rock. The Eagles erased an early 2-0 deficit to take the series win, 2-1 over the Trojans.
- Georgia Southern trails in the all-time series 4-3, but won the only series between the teams in Lafayette back in 2015. Two of the three Eagle wins came by a single run.
- The Georgia Southern offense in 2017 has been buoyed by the bats of three freshman who have announced their presence with authority.  Mason McWhorter is hitting .336 with four home runs. Steven Curry is hitting .335 from the leadoff spot in the order.  Mitchell Golden is hitting .302 between shortstop and third base.
- Senior right fielder Jordan Wren had a career night at No. 22 Mercer on April 25th. He clobbered a pair of home runs and added a double in a 3-for-5 day. He drove in eight runs, the highest total since Dustin Langley drove in eight on March 6, 1999 against Appalachian State. He was just one RBI shy of tying Mark Strucher's school record which was set in 1978.
- Georgia Southern Baseball has truly been at home on the road over the last three seasons, winning 12-straight conference road series. After dropping their first Sun Belt road series at Troy in 2015, the Eagles have taken 12-straight weekends away from Statesboro. The Eagles won their most recent series in dramatic fashion, handing the defending National Champions their first home series loss since 2015 with a 6-5 win on Saturday and a 3-2 win on Sunday.
- In 2017 Georgia Southern has done well to hold on to their leads. The Eagles are 22-0 when leading after six innings, 21-0 when leading after seven and 24-0 when leading after eight. The Eagle bullpen has blown just one save this year, but came back to take that win in 11 innings.
- The Eagles defeated UT Arlington 9-5 on March 26th, scoring five in the first and four in the eighth. The impressive stat lying underneath that line is that all nine Georgia Southern runs came with two outs in the respective innings. The Eagles posted four-straight two out hits in both innings. In the eighth inning of the tie game, the Eagles broke Maverick hearts with a single, a triple, a double and a triple in succession to take the win.
- Georgia Southern Head Coach Rodney Hennon has consistently reached the 30 win mark in his career, crossing the threshold 19 times in his 20 total seasons and 17 of 18 years at Georgia Southern. The Eagles have twice reached 42 overall wins in 2001 (42-20) and 2009 (42-17).
- The 2017 Sun Belt Tournament is coming to Statesboro starting on May 23, 2017. The new format features two play in games that pit the No. 7 and No. 10 seeds and the No. 8 and No. 9 seeds for the final spots in the field of eight.

COMING UP NEXT
Following this weekend's three game set in the Pelican State, Georgia Southern visits Kennesaw State for a midweek game on Wednesday night, May 10th. First pitch in Cobb County is set for 6 p.m. The Eagles are home next weekend for a three game set against Arkansas State.
