Georgia Southern Falls 7-6 on Friday at Georgia State

Eagles drop the their first weekend series to the Panthers since joining the Sun Belt

DECATUR, GA. - Georgia Southern Baseball fell 7-6 on Friday night to drop game two of the three-game set against Georgia State. The Panthers got a pair of runs in the seventh to erase a slim Eagle lead and take the win. Georgia Southern and Georgia State close the regular season on Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m.

With the victory on Friday, the Panthers have added a point for their school to in the Georgia Southern-Georgia State Rivalry Series. The score for the series is now Georgia Southern 3 and Georgia State 17. To view the results and scoring in this new competition, visit GSEagles.com/RivalrySeries.

SCORING PLAYS
Bot 2nd - GS 0 - GAST 2
- A two-run double with two outs in the second gave Georgia State an early 2-0 lead.
Top 3rd - GS 2 - GAST 2 - Steven Curry opened the third with a leadoff single, moved up to second on a wild pitch and scored on Logan Baldwin's RBI single to left. After Baldwin stole second, Tyler Martin lashed a double in the gap in right to tie the game at 2-2.
Top 4th - GS 3 - GAST 2 - The Panthers gifted the Eagles a run when Brazil scored on a wild pitch. He reached on a single and moved up on a walk and a fly ball to right.
Bot 4th - GS 3 - GAST 5 - State took the lead for the second time on Friday with a three run frame in the fourth with three hits and a walk.
Top 5th - GS 5 - GAST 5 - Tyler Martin reached on a leadoff error and reached third on a pair of wild pitches. Jordan Wren brought him in with his fifth home run of the season, popping a ball over the right field wall to tie the game at 5-5.
Top 6th - GS 6 - GAST 5 - C.J. Brazil reached base the painful way when he was hit by a pitch to start the sixth. A sacrifice bunt and a single moved him up to third where he came home on Logan Baldwin's sacrifice fly to left.
Bot 7th - GS 6 - GAST 7 - Georgia State got two hits and a walk against reliever Jacob Condra-Bogan in the seventh to score two runs. The go-ahead run came home via a sacrifice fly to right.

GAME NOTES
- The loss ends Georgia Southern's run of 12-straight road series victories in Sun Belt Conference play. The last time the Eagles dropped a road series in the league was at Troy in March of 2015.
- Jacob Condra-Bogan was handed the loss after working four innings out of the bullpen. He gave up the two runs off four hits and a walk while striking out four.
- Steven Curry and Tyler Martin each went 2-for-5 on the day to lead the Eagles at the plate. Martin had a double and an RBI while both scored a run.
- Jordan Wren's two-run home run in the fifth inning was his fifth of the year and his first since April 25th when he hit two against Mercer. Four of his five blasts this season have come in the Peach State.
