STATESBORO, GA. - After four games at home, Georgia Southern Baseball is back on the road this weekend for three games at Troy. The Eagles lead the Trojans by a game in the Sun Belt East Division standings, ranking third behind Coastal Carolina and South Alabama. First pitch on Friday night is set for 7 p.m. (ET) / 6 p.m. (CT).

- Georgia Southern Baseball is back on the road this weekend for a three-game series against Troy. The Eagles have dropped two of three in both previous league series against the Trojans. The Eagles won the middle game in the 2016 series, taking the 7-0 win.
- Georgia Southern took a midweek win over Savannah State on Tuesday night, 11-7. Tyler Martin's grand slam in the fourth inning was part of a seven-run frame which put the Eagles ahead for good. Logan Baldwin and Evan McDonald each tallied a three hit game.
- The Eagles trail 9-2 in the all-time series with Troy. Georgia Southern dropped two of three in both Sun Belt series' between the clubs.
- The Georgia Southern offense in 2017 has been buoyed by the bats of three freshman who have announced their presence with authority.  Steven Curry leads the team with a .347 average from the leadoff spot in the order. Curry enters the Troy series on a 16-game hit streak. Mitchell Golden is hitting .339 between shortstop and third base. Mason McWhorter is hitting .327 in 25 starts with eight doubles, and his first home run against College of Charleston.
- The Eagles defeated UT Arlington 9-5 on March 26th, scoring five in the first and four in the eighth. The impressive stat lying underneath that line is that all nine Georgia Southern runs came with two outs in the respective innings. The Eagles posted four-straight two out hits in both innings. In the eighth inning of the tie game, the Eagles broke Maverick hearts with a single, a triple, a double and a triple in succession to take the win.
- Recently the Georgia Southern offense has kept a real cool head and made some real good bread by batting around four times in the last six games entering the Troy series. The Eagles sent 10 to the plate last time out in the fourth inning, scoring seven runs in the frame.
- The 2017 Sun Belt Tournament is coming to Statesboro starting on May 23, 2017. The new format features two play in games that pit the No. 7 and No. 10 seeds and the No. 8 and No. 9 seeds for the final spots in the field of eight.

COMING UP NEXT
With Easter coming up next weekend, Georgia Southern has a condensed schedule following the Troy series. The Eagles face Kennesaw State on Tuesday night at 6 p.m. before opening a league series with Appalachian State which runs Thursday - Friday - Saturday at the friendly confines.
