QUICK HITS
- For the second straight season, Georgia Southern Baseball welcomes Little Rock to Statesboro for a three game series. The Eagles are third in the league's East Division and owners of the Sun Belt's best overall record at 28-14.
- Georgia Southern owns a 13-6 lead in the all-time series with the Trojans after both teams spent time in the TAAC. The Eagles are 4-2 in Sun Belt play against Little Rock, dropping last season's series 2-1, but defeating the Trojans in the Sun Belt Tournament.
- The Georgia Southern offense in 2017 has been buoyed by the bats of three freshman who have announced their presence with authority.  Mason McWhorter went .383 in the Coastal Carolina series to raise his average to .350 with four home runs. Steven Curry is hitting .343 from the leadoff spot in the order.  Mitchell Golden is hitting .319 between shortstop and third base.
- Senior right fielder Jordan Wren had a career night at No. 22 Mercer on April 25th. He clobbered a pair of home runs and added a double in a 3-for-5 day. He drove in eight runs, the highest total since Dustin Langley drove in eight on March 6, 1999 against Appalachian State. He was just one RBI shy of tying Mark Strucher's school record which was set in 1978.
- Georgia Southern Baseball has truly been at home on the road over the last three seasons, winning 12-straight conference road series. After dropping their first Sun Belt road series at Troy in 2015, the Eagles have taken 12-straight weekends away from Statesboro. The Eagles won their most recent series in dramatic fashion, handing the defending National Champions their first home series loss since 2015 with a 6-5 win on Saturday and a 3-2 win on Sunday.
- In 2017 Georgia Southern has done well to hold on to their leads. The Eagles are 20-0 when leading after six innings, 19-0 when leading after seven and 22-0 when leading after eight. The Eagle bullpen has blown just one save this year, but came back to take that win in 11 innings.
- For the third straight season, Georgia Southern Baseball has partnered with the Vs. Cancer Foundation to help fight childhood cancer. The Eagles raised more than $8,000 this season, culminating with members of the team shaving their heads on April 15th. Fans can still contribute by visiting https://team.vs-cancer.org/gs2017.
- The 2017 Sun Belt Tournament is coming to Statesboro starting on May 23, 2017. The new format features two play in games that pit the No. 7 and No. 10 seeds and the No. 8 and No. 9 seeds for the final spots in the field of eight.

COMING UP NEXT
The Eagles will spend the next week focusing on academics before returning to the diamond at Louisiana. Georgia Southern travels for three games against the Ragin Cajuns beginning on May 5th.
