Eagles Get Past No. 22 Mercer 4-3 in 10 Innings on Wednesday

Four hits from Logan Baldwin lead the Eagles to a midweek sweep over the Bears

STATESBORO, GA. - Georgia Southern picked up its fourth win over a ranked opponent in the last week with a 10 inning, 4-3 win over No. 22 Mercer on Wednesday night. The Eagles got four hits from Logan Baldwin including a gutsy single in the 10th that helped keep the Eagles alive. Ultimately a two-on wild pitch allowed Jacob Greene to scamper home and cement the 4-3 win.

Georgia Southern earned its second win this week over Mercer who owns the nation's best record at 35-9 after Wednesday's contest. Georgia Southern upped its Sun Belt Conference best record to 28-14 entering a home series with Little Rock. The Eagles trail South Alabama by a game for first place in the East Division and are a half game behind Coastal Carolina for second place.

QUOTABLES
Head Coach Rodney Hennon
"We got a great effort from Brian Eichhorn tonight. I thought Adam Kelly threw some good pitches and Landon Hughes did a really good job finishing it off. We were really fortunate to win this one. We got some big at bats from Jacob Greene and Logan Baldwin there in the 10th inning. Logan fought off pitch after pitch to single and we were able to get a man to third base. We got a break there with a pitch that got away, so we were fortunate to get the win. Now we've got to prepare for a big series against Little Rock this weekend."
