Baseball Drops Series Opener to Little Rock

Friday's loss snaps a four game win streak for the Eagles

STATESBORO, GA. - Georgia Southern's four-game win streak came to an end on Friday night as the Eagles dropped the opening game of this weekend's series to Little Rock, 11-4. The Trojans tallied 13 hits in the game to run away with the win in the opener. Georgia Southern and Little Rock return to the diamond on Saturday with a 6:30 p.m. contest. SCORING PLAYS
Top 2nd - LR 5 - GS 0
- A leadoff home run on the second pitch of the second inning opened a five run Little Rock inning that saw six hits, three for extra bases find their way between the Eagle fielders.
Top 3rd - LR 9 - GS 0 - The Trojans got four more in the third, spraying four hits and taking advantage of four wild pitches to extend the lead further.
Bot 3rd - LR 9 - GS 1 - Ryan Cleveland's RBI single made Little Rock pay for a one out throwing error by the Trojan first baseman. The base knock drove in Steven Curry for an unearned run.
Top 6th - LR 11 - GS 1 - Little Rock tacked on two more in the sixth off one hit. Three hit batters and a walk contributed to the frame that saw the Trojans push the lead to 11-1.
Bot 9th - LR 11 - GS 4 - Georgia Southern lashed four hits and took advantage of two Little Rock errors to plate three runs in the ninth. Evan McDonald grounded to third to drive in the inning's first run, while C.J. Ballard scored on a wild pitch that got between the catcher's wickets. Steven Curry drove in a run with two outs to complete the three run frame.

GAME NOTES
- Starting pitcher Jacob Condra-Bogan went just two innings to fall to 4-2 on the year. The graduate student worked a clean first inning, but gave up five runs off six hits in the second inning.
- Little Rock's starting pitcher Ryan LeMoine went a career-long 8.2 innings to improve to 2-4 on the year. He gave up five hits and was charged with the four unearned runs.

The Eagles will look to even the series on Saturday night in game two of the weekend set. First pitch is set for 6:30 p.m. Saturday's game is the second annual "Bark in the Park" game with fans encouraged to bring their dogs to the game.
