ATLANTA, Ga. -Â The Georgia Southern softball team fell to Georgia Tech in a midweek contest on Wednesday night. The Eagles (21-20) were not able to overcome an early deficit from the Yellow Jackets (14-30), falling 12-4 in six innings.
Senior
Emily Snider knocked her eleventh homerun of the season to get things going in the first inning for the Eagles. Georgia Tech was able to respond, scoring six runs within the first three innings.Â
Morgan Robinson hit a two-run shot to cut the deficit in the fifth inning, 6-4. The Yellow Jackets continued to capitalize on the bases and in the box in the fifth, tacking on another four runs. A homerun from Kelsey Chisholm implemented the run rule in the sixth inning, making the final score 12-4.
Dixie Raley (L, 12-14) got the start in the circle for the Eagles and was tabbed with the loss, throwing two innings.
Kierra Camp and
Heather Felt finished out the game in relief, throwing the final five innings.
Emily Snider and
India Davis each had two hits on the day,
Andrea McKenzie,
Mekhia Freeman and
Morgan Robinson each had one.Â
