STATESBORO, GA. - Georgia Southern Baseball is back on the road for four games this week beginning with a Wednesday afternoon trip to Savannah State. The Eagles face the Tigers for the second time this season, taking an 11-7 win on April 4th in Statesboro. First pitch from Tiger Stadium in Savannah is set for 5 p.m.

- After last weekend's series win over Appalachian State, the Eagles got an extra off day before facing Savannah State on Wednesday. The Eagles visit the Tigers for the first time in series history just two days after Savannah State announced its pending reclassification to NCAA Division II.
- The Eagles took the series finale over Appalachian State 6-4, rallying from an early deficit. Landon Hughes had an extended outing, picking up his fourth win of the year while Seth Shuman earned his first collegiate save.
- Georgia Southern faces the Tigers for the first time in Savannah on Wednesday night with a 3-0 lead in the all-time series. The Eagles defeated SSU 11-7 on April 4th in Statesboro.
- The Georgia Southern offense in 2017 has been buoyed by the bats of three freshman who have announced their presence with authority.  Steven Curry leads the team with a .333 average from the leadoff spot in the order. Mitchell Golden is hitting .326 between shortstop and third base. Mason McWhorter is hitting .331 in 32 starts with eight doubles, and two home runs.
- For the third straight season, Georgia Southern Baseball has partnered with the Vs. Cancer Foundation to help fight childhood cancer. The Eagles raised more than $8,000 this season, culminating with members of the team shaving their heads on April 15th. Fans can still contribute by visiting https://team.vs-cancer.org/gs2017.
- Georgia Southern's strong play in 2017 has been assisted by solid work out of the bullpen. The Eagle bullpen is 13-1 on the season with a perfect 7-for-7 conversion rate on saves. The bullpen has a 4-0 record in April with three saves. On the road, the bullpen is 5-0 with a 2.96 ERA.
- The 2017 Sun Belt Tournament is coming to Statesboro starting on May 23, 2017. The new format features two play in games that pit the No. 7 and No. 10 seeds and the No. 8 and No. 9 seeds for the final spots in the field of eight.

COMING UP NEXT
Following Wednesday's game at Savannah State, the Eagles will return to Statesboro for morning classes on Thursday before heading up I-95 for a three game series at Coastal Carolina. The series against the defending National Champions starts at 6 p.m. on Friday night.
