MONROE, La. - The Georgia Southern softball team was not able to overcome an early deficit on Friday night, falling just short in a 3-0 loss to UL Monroe. The Eagles (12-12, 2-2 SBC) will have another chance at the Warhawks on Saturday, completing the Sun Belt Conference series with a doubleheader beginning at 2 p.m. Eastern time.
Freshman
Mekhia Freeman had two hits on the day and started off the first inning with a triple to the center field wall. The Warhawks were able to push across runs early to respond, scoring two in the first inning and later hitting a solo homerun in the sixth to seal the deal.
Dixie Raley (7-7) went the distance on the mound for Georgia Southern, throwing six innings with four strikeouts.
