TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The Georgia Southern softball team dropped a non-conference tilt to No. 11/8 Alabama 9-0 in five innings Wednesday afternoon at a chilly Rhoads Stadium.
Alabama struck quickly, scoring a pair of runs in the first inning. In the second inning, the Eagles committed two errors that led to two unearned runs crossing the plate. In the third stanza, the Tide got a bases-clearing double to make it 7-0 and then plated two more runs in the fourth inning to help end the game early as the Eagles failed to score in the fifth inning.
The Eagles' bats were stymied by the nation's leader in strikeouts as Alexis Osorio racked up seven Ks in three innings. Madi Moore finished off the no-hitter, going the final two innings.
Emily Snider drew a walk in the fourth inning and
Michelle Mazur was hit by a pitch to account for the Eagles' lone base runners.
Dixie Raley got the start and
Kierra Camp finished up the game for Georgia Southern. They both recorded a strikeout in the five-inning contest.
The Eagles will look to rebound this weekend as they head to Monroe, Louisiana, for a three-game Sun Belt Conference set at ULM. GS (2-1 SBC) will play ULM (1-2 SBC) in a single game Friday at 6 p.m. Central (7 p.m. ET), followed by the doubleheader on Saturday starting at 1 p.m Central (2 p.m. ET).
