QUICK HITS
- C.J. Ballard leads the 2017 Eagles in all-time stats against the Bulldogs, going 5-for-12 (.417) last year at UGA. Ryan Cleveland hit a home run in last year's series and is a .290 hitter vs. the Bulldogs.
- Georgia Southern trails Georgia 48-54-1 in the all-time series, but has taken eight of the last 12 games to lift Coach Hennon's record to 14-16 against the Bulldogs.
- Ryan Cleveland is off to a hot start in 2017, posting a .556 average in the Middle Tennessee series to take Sun Belt Player of the Week honors. He tallied a double in each contest while working five walks in the series including four in the season opener.
- Georgia Southern's most experienced returning quarterback, Seth Shuman, has also established himself as a stud on the mound with three quality pitches and a heck of a pass across the middle. A 39th round draft pick by Baltimore out of high school, Shuman joined the Eagles, playing four games on the gridiron. He began practicing with Eagle Baseball in January and has split time between football and baseball this spring. On February 21st, Shuman participated in "mat drills" with the Football team in the morning only to pitch two innings against Georgia Tech that evening.
- Two Eagles were selected to the All-Sun Belt Preseason Poll with Ryan Cleveland and Evan Challenger earning spots on the team.
- The Eagles were picked third in the new East Division of the Sun Belt Conference which features defending National Champion Coastal Carolina, NCAA Tournament entrant South Alabama, Georgia State, Appalachian State and Troy. The Eagles earned a first place vote in the poll of the league's coaches.
- The Road to Omaha for 2017 leads through Statesboro with the Sun Belt Championships coming to Jack Stallings Field at J.I. Clements Stadium in May. The league's top teams will decide the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament on the hallowed home of the Eagles.

COMING UP NEXT
Following this weekend's series, Georgia Southern will close out the homestand with a Wednesday night game against the College of Charleston. The former SoCon foes renew their rivalry starting at 6 p.m. on March 1st.
