STATESBORO, Ga. – On Friday the Georgia Southern men's tennis team defeated Gardner-Webb and ABAC 4-0. The Eagles would improve their winning streak to 6, while also improving their home court record to 7-0 on the season. The blue and white are now 10-4 on the season and are looking to continue their success on Sunday against Stetson at noon.

"Overall we had a good day," said head coach Sander Koning. "We will enjoy this until tomorrow and we will look towards a strong Stetson team. I encourage everyone to come out and see us play Sunday at noon. It will be a good match!"

GARDNER-WEBB – In the first part of Friday's doubleheader the Eagles took on Gardner-Webb University. The Eagles would take the first match of doubles play and put the pressure on the Bulldogs. The blue and white would win the doubles point and take a 1-0 lead heading into singles play. Senior Dani Casablancas would get singles play off to a fast start defeating his opponent in straight sets and giving the Eagles a 2-0 lead. Artemie Amari and Stefano Di Aloy would follow shortly after clinching the match for the Eagles and improving the record to 9-4 on the season.

"We came out with the wrong mindset in doubles," head coach Sander Koning said. "We were lucky to pull out the doubles win, but I wasn't happy with the way we approached the match. After doubles the guys were locked in and played the way we want here at Georgia Southern. I believe it was a good team win. We were able to push through and not let Gardner-Webb back into the match and that is something we will need to do later in the season too. It is good we showed we can do it."

Artemie Amari and Santiago Suarez defeated their opponents 6-0. Murphy McCullough gained a point and gave the Eagles a 2-0 lead in singles play defeating his opponent 6-2, 6-2.

"We came out with the right mindset," said head coach Sander Koning. "Because of it we were able to keep our momentum of the day going. Our #1 doubles was very poised under pressure and served it out well. In singles the bottom of our lineup was just a little bit better than ABAC's and it is good for those guys to get some wins and help the team. I am very happy Murphy was able to get a win and start it off for us in singles. He has been working hard and today he was able to display that."
