Friday night's 6:30 p.m. contest opens the year
STATESBORO, GA. - The return of spring comes one step closer on Friday as Georgia Southern Baseball opens the 2017 season at home against Middle Tennessee. Fans will get their first chance to see the upgrades to Jack Stallings Field at J.I. Clements Stadium including a new video board and the "Blue Monster" in right field. First pitch on Friday night is set for 6:30 p.m.
Season tickets are still available by visiting GSEagles.com/Tickets. Single game tickets may also be purchased at the J.I. Clements Stadium Box Office located directly behind home plate at the stadium's main entrance.

- Two Eagles were selected to the All-Sun Belt Preseason Poll with Ryan Cleveland and Evan Challenger earning spots on the team.
- The Eagles were picked third in the new East Division of the Sun Belt Conference which features defending National Champion Coastal Carolina, NCAA Tournament entrant South Alabama, Georgia State, Appalachian State and Troy. The Eagles earned a first place vote in the poll of the league's coaches.
- The Road to Omaha for 2017 leads through Statesboro with the Sun Belt Championships coming to Jack Stallings Field at J.I. Clements Stadium in May. The league's top teams will decide the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament on the hallowed home of the Eagles.
- National attention is already coming the way of the Eagles with two polls sending votes to Georgia Southern. The National College Baseball Writers Association and the College Baseball News each named the Eagles in their "others receiving votes" list.
- The Eagles have 11 seniors on this year's squad while returning seven of the eight position starters from 2016. The sharp end of the pitching staff is still in tact with all three weekend starters from last year back for 2017.
