Eagles score four goals to complete non-conference play
STATESBORO, Ga. – For the final non-conference match of the season, the Eagles took on the Bulldogs of South Carolina State. The Eagles had never lost to the Bulldogs and last met in 2003. The Blue and White outshot South Carolina State 19-5 in the game, allowing only three of those on net.
The Eagles opened up the scoring in the 28th minute when two defenders hooked up for the first goal. Ashton Adams played a ball through the defenders to Junique Rodriguez who took a touch and moved the ball into the box. Rodriguez would shoot and score bottom corner to put the Eagles on the board and collect her first goal of the season.
South Carolina State would answer minutes later, leveling the score at 1-1. Freshman Maddie Klintworth broke that level score three minutes after that equalizer. Klintworth dribbled into the box and paused, before finishing the ball into the bottom right corner for her first career goal as an Eagle.
Frida Brattum joined the scoring party in the 51st minute when she took an errant pass by the goalkeeper and finished it into the back of the net. Brattum's goal was her fifth of the season and the Eagles third of the evening. Asha Vilaythong capped off the scoring on the evening when Maddie Klintworth just missed her second goal of the night. Klintworth hit the post, before Vilaythong cleaned up the rebound and finished it into the net.

WHAT HEAD COACH BRIAN DUNLEAVY SAID
"Not a stellar performance by any means. We came out very flat and we didn't have the energy and focus that we had in previous games. Honestly, I think we were humbled tonight. We have to take every opportunity to get better. It wasn't until the second half that we had any semblance of what we stand for and we've all got to do a better job. As we move forward and get back into conference play the key for us is consistency. As talented a group as we have, it takes more of the intangibles than we showed tonight. It was good to get everyone in the game, some of our players showed very well, we we'll take the win and move on to our preparation for Georgia State."
