NEW ORLEANS- Both
Giulia Riepe and
Rise Lanne were named to the Sun Belt's All-Conference teams on Wednesday night, following their impressive performances for the tennis programs at Georgia Southern throughout the regular season. Both playing solely at the No.1 positions for their respective teams, Riepe, a junior, was named to the All-Conference Second Team while Lanne, a senior, was a part of the First Team.Â

Riepe conjured up a 13-5 spring record, going 2-2 in conference play at the top spot. Both of her conference wins, over Troy and UL Monroe, came in straight sets. She also grabbed the lone point for the team against Southern Miss when she won at line one 3-6, 6-3, 10-8.

For Lanne, this marks the second year he has earned First Team accolades in as many years with Georgia Southern, Lanne held a 16-3 spring record which ranks seventh in school history for the most wins in a single season. On top of two Sun Belt Athlete of the Week Awards this year, 11 of his 16 victories have come in straight sets.

Also at the Sun Belt Championship banquet, Riepe and Lanne were honored for their academic performances along with six other teammates. Joining Riepe from the women's team were seniors
Francisca Norregaard and
Mary Phillips Smith. Smith was also nominated for Female Scholar Athlete of the Year at Georgia Southern and holds the team's highest GPA. Representing from the men's team were
Eddie Landin,
Dani Casablancas,
JC Alcala, Chris Kerrigan and Lanne. Kerrigan held the team's highest GPA and Lanne was among the nominees for the Male Scholar Athlete of the Year.
