Eagles push past Bethune-Cookman 4-3 on Wednesday
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla.- After a two-match lull last weekend, the Georgia Southern women's tennis team picked things back up again against Bethune-Cookman on Wednesday with a 4-3 win at the Daytona Tennis Center.
Although the Wildcats were shorthanded, the Eagles fought hard to clinch the match.
"Today was a great team win. We competed really well and won some great matches," senior Mary Phillips Smith said. "Moving forward, we can learn from today and carry our momentum all the way through conference play."
Georgia Southern countered quickly in doubles after BCU earned the first match at line one. Giulia Riepe and Francisca Norregaard clinched the doubles point at line two due to their 6-2 win and the default win at line three.
Lindsay Truscott and Norregaard continued the Eagles scoring, each notching wins in their singles matches to bring it home for Georgia Southern. Even though the Wildcats won the next three, the Blue and White pulled ahead from the default at the No.6 position.
The Eagles now boast an 8-5 spring season record after solid play over BCU.
