QUICK HITS
- Georgia Southern is in a three-way tie for first place in the Sun Belt with South Alabama and Texas State following the opening round of league games.
- The Eagles enter Tuesday's midweek contest against the Mercer Bears on a four-game winning streak including wins in nine of their last 10 games.
- Georgia Southern holds a commanding 115-46-2 lead in the all-time series between the Eagles and Bears. Mercer has won six of the last 10 games, but Georgia Southern has won back-to-back games in Macon.
- A week ago Georgia Southern defeated Kennesaw State with the highly uncommon walk-off balk. Logan Hutchinson entered the game with no outs and runners on the corners in the 12th.  Before throwing his first pitch, he turned for a pickoff attempt and faked the throw, plating Eric Furphy for the winning run.
- Last Tuesday's win over Kennesaw State was the Eagles' third extra innings contest of the year and the longest game between the Owls and Eagles in series history at 12 innings. It was also the longest of the season by time, clocking in at 4:50, besting the 16-inning lost to Georgia Tech by five minutes.

EAGLES TAKE SWEEP OVER MOUNTAINEERS
- Georgia Southern took all three games over Appalachian State with only the middle contest in doubt late.
- The Eagles hit .330 in the three-game set while scoring 26 runs. As a unit, the team reached base at a .424 clip, walking 12 times and wearing six pitches.
- Georgia Southern's pitching staff held Mountaineer batters to a .170 average while allowing a 3.00 ERA.
- Hunter Thomas made his return to the lineup after missing the first 13 games of the season. Following a weak ground out due to bad footing in his first trip to the plate, the senior clubbed a grand slam off the scoreboard in right.

EVAN MCDONALD'S ON A TEAR, EI-EI-O
- Junior shortstop Evan McDonald had an outstanding weekend at Appalachian State, hitting his first collegiate double while driving in four and scoring three runs of his own.
- He entered the weekend with five hits in the season's first 13 games. He went 5-for-11 in the series and is on a seven-game hit streak where he is hitting .409.
