STATESBORO, Ga. – Georgia Southern men's soccer head coach Kevin Kennedy released the Eagles' 2016 Spring Soccer Schedule Monday. The out-of-season schedule features eight games with seven to be played in Statesboro. The final game will be the Eagles' annual Alumni Game.

""We are excited about our spring schedule as it will give us a lot of opportunities to have some of our younger guys get a lot of quality minutes and experience under their belts," said Kennedy. "Every one of the teams on the spring schedule will be a difficult game both on the field and as we prepare mentally, so we are looking to challenging the team and building some character. We lost some very key players in key positions due to graduation this past fall and because of that, we are looking in house to see who will step up to the challenges of open spots in the lineup.

"We are also very excited about our Annual Alumni weekend", continued Kennedy. "Last year, we had a great number of about 40 or so alumni who came back and spent the weekend with us getting to know the players and getting reacquainted with former teammates, sharing stories, having laughs and having a great Alumni event. We are hoping the word gets out so that we can increase the number of alumni who are able to come back and join in on the fun."

Georgia Southern will begin the spring schedule on Saturday, Feb. 27 with a pair of home games at Eagle Field. The Eagles will first take on Jacksonville University in a 4 p.m. contest before taking on Anderson University at 8 p.m. The following Friday, Mar. 4, the Eagles will welcome the Flying Fleet of Erskine College to Statesboro for a 7:30 p.m. game.

The Eagles will close out the month of March with another doubleheader on Saturday, Mar. 26. On that day, the Eagles will first host Clayton State at high noon before tangling with Emory at 4 p.m.

When the calendar turns to April, the men's soccer team will make its only trip of the spring, traveling to Mercer University to take on the Bears at 8 p.m. on Friday, Apr. 1. The Eagles will then return home for one final Friday match on Apr. 15 when Newberry comes to town for a 7:30 p.m. contest.

The Eagles will wrap up their spring slate on Saturday, Apr. 23 with their annual alumni game. The game between the current and past Eagles will kick off at 2p.m.
