STATESBORO, GA. – The 2016 Georgia Southern Baseball campaign gets underway this weekend as the Eagles venture to Athens for a three-game set against the Georgia Bulldogs. First pitch for the 2016 season is at 5 p.m. with the game available on SEC Network +. All three contests can be heard on the Georgia Southern Sports Network.

QUICK HITS
- The Eagles are 46-50-1 all-time against the Bulldogs and 12-19 in games played in Athens.
- Georgia Southern has won four straight games against the Bulldogs and seven of the last nine games to claim all three series since the programs resumed playing in 2013.
- The Eagles are 7-9 under Coach Hennon to open the season, but have won two-straight season openers with a win at UGA in 2014 and a 3-0 win over Bethune-Cookman last year in Statesboro.
- The Eagles open the season on the road for just the third time under Coach Hennon Georgia Southern visited Georgia to open the 2014 season and Hawaii to open 2007. Georgia Southern won both of those contests.
- Georgia Southern will trot out Evan Challenger for the second-straight season against the Bulldogs, he went five last year against the Bulldogs and took the no decision allowing two runs, one earned on the night.
- Two Freshman will make their debut appearances for the Eagles on Saturday and Sunday with Chase Cohen and Brian Eichhorn taking to the mound.

COMING UP NEXT
The 2016 home opener is on Wednesday, Feb. 24, as Georgia Tech ventures off the flats to face the Eagles at J.I. Clements. First pitch for the home opener is 6 p.m. with the game to be broadcast on ESPN3.
