Eagles Control Finals Match
STATESBORO, Ga. – The Georgia Southern men's tennis team concluded the Georgia Southern Championships Sunday afternoon. The Eagles began the day with three players in the Main Draw semifinals and finished with the finals match between Santiago Suarez and Dani Casablancas. The Eagles will now have two weeks to prepare for their final fall tournament at the College of Charleston.
"Overall I am very pleased with the level of competition we showed in this tournament. These guys work hard and are great to work with. They give it their all every day and it is good to see it showing in this tournament," said head coach Sander Koning. "The guys have been trying to stay in the process and it is fun to see when it comes together. I am particularly happy for Santiago, Dani, and Adam Brown, all of them have been doing great in practice but they had some struggles in the previous tournaments. All three players stayed with it and kept putting themselves in the right positions and it resulted in a good tournament this weekend. This should encourage them to keep doing what they are doing. We will continue to work hard and improve on some of the things we need to get better at before we go to our last tournament at College of Charleston in two weeks. We are looking forward to finishing the fall season strong."
