LAST TIME OUT
The Georgia Southern women's soccer team fell to in-state rival Georgia State 2-1 on the road Friday night. The Panthers carried a 2-0 lead heading into halftime and throughout the majority of the second half, but junior forward
Sarah Price cut that lead short in the last 10 minutes of the match. Price scored her fifth goal of the season on an assist by senior
Jennifer Wittick, but the late rally wasn't enough to lift the Eagles over the Panthers.
SCOUTING APPALACHIAN STATE
The Appalchian State Mountaineers (6-7-2) hold a 1-4-2 conference record and are currently last in Sun Belt standings. Their offense is led by senior forward Jane Cline, who leads the team in goals (7) as well as points (16). Junior goalkeeper Sam Steyl has played the majority between the pipes for the Mountaineers, tallying 55 saves with a record of 4-7-2.
SERIES HISTORY
The Eagles and the Mountaineers meet for the 29th time in a series where Georgia Southern leads, 15-13-1. The two teams faced off twice in 2014, once in the regular season and once in the post season, where Georgia Southern won both matches. The Eagles and Mountaineers played at Appalachian State last season, where the Eagles lost 0-1.
NEXT UP
The Eagles will travel to Arkansas next weekend for their last two regular season games. GS will play Little Rock on Friday night and Arkansas State Sunday afternoon.
