NEW ORLEANS – Georgia Southern's
Alex Beecher has been named the Sun Belt Conference volleyball Defensive Player of the Week, the league announced today.
Beecher tallied 6.44 digs per set in two matches for the Eagles, posting 27 digs against Florida Gulf Coast and a season-high 31 against South Alabama. The junior libero has registered 20-plus digs in four straight matches and has 20-plus digs in a match 30 times during her career. Beecher ranks seventh in the country in digs per set with 5.59 a frame.
Georgia Southern returns to action when the Eagles begin their Texas road swing at UT Arlington Thursday. The Eagles take on Texas State Saturday before returning home to host in-state rival Georgia State Wednesday, Oct. 7.
