The Georgia Southern Eagles will open up their two-game home stand on Saturday, Sept. 19 as The Citadel comes to town for a non-conference matchup. Here's all you need to know about the game:

The Eagles hold a 12-1 mark at Allen E. Paulson Stadium against the Bulldogs.
• Eleven contests have been decided by 10 points or less, including the last three meetings in which Georgia Southern won 14-12 in 2011 at home, the Bulldogs won 23-21 at Johnson Hagood Stadium in 2012 and the Eagles claimed a 28-21 win in 2013 at Paulson Stadium.
• Twenty-one of the 23 previous meetings were when both teams were members of the Southern Conference with the Eagles winning 16 of them.
• Georgia Southern's inaugural game in the Southern Conference came on Sept. 11, 1993, a 16-6 win over The Citadel.
Against the Southern Conference• Georgia Southern called the Southern Conference home for 20 seasons, from 1993-2013, and won 10 conference titles (1993, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2004, 2011 and 2012) during that stretch.
• The Eagles went 116-48 in Southern Conference play while members of the league.
• Georgia Southern holds a 116-40 all-time record against current members of the Southern Conference.
Military Appreciation Day• Saturday's game will be the annual Military Appreciation Game, presented by the Georgia Army National Guard, with pre-game and in-game activities, presentations and a halftime musical salute by the Southern Pride Marching Band.
• The Georgia National Guard and GSU Army ROTC Eagle Battalion will have a Fun Zone set up by Gate 12, including an interactive STEM Truck and Humvee among other activities.
• Future soldiers will swear-in at halftime taking their first step toward serving our great nation.
Serving Our Country•
Lennie Richardson left GS after the 2008 season to enlisted in U.S. Army where he achieved rank of sergeant in his nearly four years of service. He served as a gunner on the M1A1 tanks and spent one year in Korea before finishing his three and a half years of military service at Ft. Benning in Georgia.
• He returned to the Eagles last year and is a key contributo along the defensive line in this, his final season. At nearly 27 years old, Richardson is the father to three children who live with their mother Audrianna Gray in California. He has also graduated from GS with a degree in general studies.
A Record Performance• Antonio Glover had a career day last Saturday, picking off three Western Michigan passes. That tied the Paulson Stadium and school records for interceptions in a game (Rodney Oglesby vs. Savannah St., 9/7/91).Honored For His Game• Matt Breida was honored by the Sun Belt Conference as the Offensive Student-Athlete of the Week for his game against Western Michigan. The junior carried just 11 times, but racked up 176 yards and four touchdowns in the 43-17 win. He had a 70-yard touchdown run, the eighth scoring run of 50 yards or longer in his career. The four scores tied his career high posted at Georgia State and it was his eighth 100-yard rushing game of his career.
