Men’s Tennis Student-Athlete Ristomatti Lanne Scores ATP Win

STATESBORO, Ga. – Georgia Southern Men's Tennis senior Ristomatti Lanne took advantage of a wild card entry in the Finland F1 Futures Tournament in Vierumaki by winning his round of 32 match on August 4th. Lanne, a native of Kangasala, Finland, was the top-ranked wild card pick for the clay court tournament. With the win, Lanne secures an ATP world rankings point for the first time since 2013.

Lanne took the round of 32 win over Sweden's Johan Claesson 6-4, 7-6 in windy early morning conditions. The win moved him to the round of 16 where he took on the sixth-seeded Jacob Adaktusson of Sweden. His opponent, ranked 828 in the world, took an early 4-0 lead in the opening set. Lanne ultimately fell 6-2, 6-3.

Next up for Lanne is the Finland F2 Futures Tournament in Hyvinkaa which starts on August 10th.
