STATESBORO, Ga. – Georgia Southern women's golf coach Emily Kuhfeld announced today that Kortnie Maxoutopoulis and Elin Arvidsson have joined her first coaching staff. Maxoutopoulis will be a graduate assistant, and Arvidsson will serve as a volunteer assistant coach.

Maxoutopoulis played three seasons at Texas Christian University after completing her freshman campaign at Rutgers. She posted seven top-10 finishes at Rutgers and was named All-Big East and Big East All-Academic in 2011-12. She played in 24 tournaments at TCU and had three top-10 finishes and four top-25 outings in her senior campaign. She placed third at the 2015 Big 12 Championship and tied for fourth at the 2015 LSU Tiger Classic.

"Kortnie's maturity, work ethic, humor and intelligence blew me away in her interview, and I couldn't be happier to have her as our first ever graduate assistant," said Kuhfeld. "Her knowledge of the game, as well as her commitment to continue to learn and grow, make her a valuable asset to our program. Kortnie will thrive with her organizational and time management skills and will make an immediate impact on the quality of our program."   

Arvidsson lettered four seasons at Texas Tech and posted a 75.5 scoring average in 119 rounds. She finished in the top-5 four times and took medalist honors in the 2013 Challenge at Onion Creek with a 72-67-69=208 (-2). She shot her career low round of 67 twice - at the 2013 Westbrook Spring Invitational and at the 2013 Challenge at Onion Creek. She is currently working towards her goal of joining the LPGA Tour. 

"I was fortunate to coach Elin for three years at Texas Tech, and it was a no-brainer to bring her on our new staff," said Kuhfeld. "Her sunny and positive attitude, diligent work ethic and understanding of tournament preparation will provide a wonderful example to the team. I am looking forward to working together on different projects to enhance our program."

The Eagles open their inaugural season at the Furman Lady Paladin Invitational Sept. 20-22, in Greenville, S.C.
