STATESBORO, GA. – Georgia Southern fell 13-1 at the hands of Troy in the final game of a three-game series on Sunday afternoon. Six errors by the Eagles harmed the outcome as the Trojans tallied just four earned runs in the game. The Eagles wade into the SEC next weekend with a Tuesday tilt at South Carolina before Mississippi State comes to town for a pair of games on the weekend.
Troy got first inning runs for the third time in the series, tallying six runs, all unearned off a pair of first inning errors. The visitors took the lead to 10-0 in the second with four more runs.
The Eagle offense bounced back in the third with a rally of their own. After a leadoff single by
Emily Snider and a stolen base,
Morgan Robinson sent her home with a double off the top of the wall in left.
Troy tacked on three more in the top of the fifth to take the 13-1 run-rule victory.
Georgia Southern visits South Carolina on Tuesday night for the Eagles' second SEC midweek game of the year. Watch that contest live on ESPN3. The Eagles are back home this weekend to face Mississippi State on Saturday and Sunday.
