Eagle Softball Swept by Ragin’ Cajuns in Doubleheader to Wrap Series

GS travels to face Texas on Thursday live on Longhorn Network

LAFAYETTE, LA. – Georgia Southern dropped both halves of a doubleheader at No. 7 UL Lafayette on Tuesday afternoon to close out a three-game series against the Ragin' Cajuns. Lafayette won both games, taking a five-inning 12-1 win in game one, and a six-inning 9-0 victory in game two. The Eagles visit Texas on Thursday night for a single game that can be seen live on Longhorn Network from 7 p.m. (ET).

Tuesday's doubleheader closes the first leg of a seven-game road swing which takes the Eagles through Louisiana and Texas. Next up is a Thursday night contest at Texas which can be seen on the Longhorn Network. A three-game series at UT Arlington closes the trip this weekend with games on Saturday and Sunday.

GAME ONE – GS 1 – #7 UL Lafayette 12 – 5 Inn.

Georgia Southern got an early march on UL Lafayette with a run in the first inning. Singles by Taylor Rogers and Emily Snider got two quick runners on to start that game. Kaitlyn Johnson ultimately plated the run with a sacrifice fly.

Lafayette answered in emphatic fashion over the next four trips to the plate, scoring 12 runs off 12 hits to take the run-rule win. Georgia Southern committed four errors in the game as the home side took the five-inning run-rule win.

GAME TWO – GS 0 – #7 UL Lafayette 9 – 6 Inn.

Both teams went scoreless through the first two innings, but three Cajun runs in the third, followed by two in the fifth and four in the sixth secured the win for the home side. The Ragin' Cajuns hit four home runs in the game and produced a total of 11 hits.

Georgia Southern got singles from Michelle Mazur, AJ Hamilton, and Rogers; but was unable to post a run.

The spring break road trip continues on Thursday with a game at Texas. The 7 p.m. (ET) contest can be seen live on the Longhorn Network.
