STATESBORO, Ga. – The Georgia Southern baseball team returns after today's game at Georgia Tech to host The North Florida Ospreys Wednesday. The two teams met in Jacksonville, Fla. earlier this year.
First pitch in Georgia Southern's only home game at J.I. Clements Stadium this week is set for 6 p.m.
The Eagles (11-5) improved to 11-1 in weekend series play and swept their third series of the year. GS took all three games from Appalachian State in their first-ever Sun Belt Conference series over the weekend.
As a team GS is hitting .263.
Aaron Mizell has a hit in seven-straight games and has raised his batting average from .147 to .271 over the stretch. Mizell tallied a RBI in all three games against the Mountaineers and tripled twice in the series.
Logan Baldwin is second on the team with a .333 batting average and was two-for-four with two RBI on Sunday.
The pitching staff holds a 3.36 ERA on the season and posted a 2.57 ERA over the weekend against Appalachian State.
Connor Simmons struck out eight batters and did not allow a walk over 6.1 scoreless innings on Sunday, while
Ryan Frederick tossed a combined 3.2 scoreless frames out of the bullpen in the series.
North Florida (9-8) has gone 4-4 since winning the first meeting in Jacksonville, Fla. 5-4 on a walk-off double. The Ospreys swept a series from Fairfield over the weekend.
As a team North Florida is hitting .274. Trent Higginbothem leads the squad with a .400 batting average and 18 RBI. Donnie Dewees is second on the squad with a .355 batting average and 15 RBI.
