The Eagles travel to Auburn Friday.
STATESBORO, Ga. – Men's basketball coach Mark Byington announced today that Quan Jackson (Tallahassee, Fla./Godby) has signed a National Letter of Intent to attend Georgia Southern and compete for the Eagles.
A 6-foot-3 guard, Jackson helped lead Godby to a state championship last season and averaged 16.5 points, four rebounds, 2.9 steals and 2.3 assists a contest. He hit a 3-pointer late in the semifinal game to send it into overtime and was named MVP of the state tournament. He was the Big Bend Conference Co-Player of the Year and first-team all-league. According to Source Hoops, he is the 18th-ranked prospect in the state of Florida, and he played AAU for Team Speights in the summer.
"Quan is a very talented wing who can score in every way," said Byington. "He is a very good shooter and can get to the rim and finish. He is unlike anyone on our current roster because of his wing span and length. He has a 6-foot-8 wingspan, which helps him be disruptive on defense, and my favorite quality about Quan is that he is winner. His mother, Tonia, has done a tremendous job raising him, and he will be a great fit on our campus and in our locker room."
Georgia Southern is 1-1 this season and travels to Auburn for a 9:30 p.m. (ET) contest Friday, Nov. 20. The game will be broadcast live on the SEC Network + and can be seen at WatchESPN.com and the Watch ESPN app.
