Following a state of emergency declared in South Carolina due to weather, the Wendy's Invitational, originally scheduled to be played at the Rivertowne Country Club in Charleston, S.C., has been moved to the par-72, 5,965-yard Château Élan Golf Club in Braselton, Ga. Kennesaw State has joined Charleston Southern to co-host the tournament.
The tournament will consist of 54 holes, with 36 holes contested on Monday on the Château Course and 18 holes set for Tuesday on the Woodlands Course.
"We were excited to play in Charleston, and now we get the chance to play in a tournament in Georgia at the beautiful Château Élan golf courses," said Georgia Southern coach Emily Kuhfeld. "This week is a great opportunity for the team to show adaptability! It has been a quick turnaround from East Carolina, but the team is working hard and continuing to learn and grow each day."
The Eagles made strides from the first tournament in program history to the second. Georgia Southern placed 15th at the Lady Paladin Invitational and tied for eighth at the Lady Pirate Intercollegiate a week later.
Iben Hvass recorded the first individual top-20 finish in program history when she tied for 18th at the Lady Pirate Intercollegiate. She leads the team with a 76.83 scoring average.
Georgia Southern plays in its final tournament of the fall Oct. 18-20, when the Eagles travel to the Fighting Camel Fall Classic in Buies Creek, N.C.
