Georgia Southern has placed first or second in four of its last five events, dating back to last season, and are coming off a second-place finish at the Cabo del Sol Intercollegiate in Mexico at the beginning of the month.
"We're excited to get back on the road this weekend for our next event, hosted by the University of South Carolina," said Georgia Southern coach
Carter Collins. "This is a new event for us so we are looking forward to the practice round and breaking the course down so we can be fully prepared for the event. We have heard the course is short but has some tough qualities so we have been working hard on a mixture of things to be prepared for that."
Cody O'Toole and
Jake Storey each tied for sixth in Cabo after firing 3-under-par 213 over 54 holes.
Henry Mabbett (+2) tied for 11th and
Archer Price (+3) tied for 15th. O'Toole has placed in the top-20 in all three tournaments this season. He was second at The Ocean Course and 13th at the Sun Belt Preview.
Crawford Simmons will make his debut with the Eagles as an individual, and
Jonas Vaisanen moves back into the lineup after playing as an individual in Cabo.
The Eagles will be paired with South Carolina and Charleston Southern for the first two rounds.
Following the weekend, the Eagles have a quick turnaround and will cap the fall campaign at the Kiawah Classic by Aramark at Turtle Point Golf Club Nov. 1-3.
