The story
Macioce posted par on her first eight holes of the day and 13 of the first 14. She birdied the par-4 15th hole and finished with a par for her 74. Hvass played five holes on the front nine at 1-under par and had six pars on the back nine for her 78. Quotable from Coach Emily Kuhfeld
"We had a solid opening round today in the toughest weather conditions we have faced this year so far. I am proud of the team for their attitudes and effort out there today. Ari led the way, and it is good to see her off to a strong start! We are keeping our focus and our purpose very simple this week, and we have two more rounds to finish out the fall the way we want to."
Next Up
The Eagles tee off at 9:15 a.m. in the second round tomorrow and will be paired with Mercer and Western Carolina.
