Semester Tips Off with Hoops Doubleheader in Hanner Thursday

STATESBORO, Ga. - Are you ready to start your spring semester off with exciting college basketball? Then you need to get to Hanner Fieldhouse Thursday for a Sun Belt Conference doubleheader featuring your Georgia Southern Eagles as they battle UL Lafayette.
This exciting doubleheader is more than just the "Semester Tip-Off." It's your chance to win incredible prizes and earn free giveaways.
The women's game begins at 5 p.m., and there will be free T-shirts for students while supplies last courtesy of Verizon, The University Store and Georgia Southern Athletics. Come for the women's game and make plans to stay for the men's game, as part of "Semester Tip-Off" night.
The men's game, which will begin at 7:30 p.m., will also have free t-shirts for students while supplies last. In addition, there will be free popcorn for the first 150 students in attendance at the concession stand, courtesy of Eagle Dining.
Two lucky students in attendance will win $1,000 courtesy of the Georgia Lottery. Students will have to be at the game to learn how they can win.
The men's team has won its last three and is tied for second in the Sun Belt standings, while UL Lafayette is in first place with a perfect 4-0 mark. The Georgia Southern women's team is coming off its first Sun Belt win, a 67-53 victory at South Alabama last Saturday.
It's the last chance to take in Georgia Southern basketball until Jan. 29, when the Eagles open a five-game home stand against long-time rival Appalachian State. Pack the Hanner and show the visiting Ragin' Cajuns how the Eagles take flight on "Semester Tip-Off" Night.
