
Eagles Reach Finals After Two Days of Competition

STATESBORO, Ga. - The Georgia Southern men's tennis team completed two solid days of competition at the Georgia Tech Fall Invitational and the Elon Fall Invitational.
In play in Atlanta, Ga., Albert Codina Sala reached the finals in C Buzz Singles and Ristomatti Lanne and Sala reached the C Buzz Doubles. Sala won three-straight matches to reach the finals and posted a 7-5, 6-3 victory over Trey McCombs (UAB) to reach the final to face Michael Beiler (UAB) tomorrow.
Sala partnered with Lanne to defeat Matt Hill and Trey McCombs of UAB 8-4 in the C Buzz Doubles. The duo will face Beiler and Christopher Perrigan tomorrow in the final.
Lanne also competed in the A White Singles and won two-straight matches against Sofianne Chevallier (Georgia St.) and Dante Saleh (Auburn) before falling in the semifinals to Georgia Tech's Christopher Eubanks 7-5, 7-6 (7-2).
In action in Elon, N.C., three Eagles advanced to the back draw finals in their respective flights.
Eduardo Landin rallied after an opening round loss to Darragh Glavin (ODU) to win two-straight matches including a 6-3, 7-6 (4) defeat of John Schubel (UNCA). Landin faces Milian Ruzic (JMU) in the B1 Singles back draw final tomorrow.
Competing in his first action of the season, Nico de Groof knocked off Sam Perelman (ODU) 6-0, 6-2 and Jamal Hoyte (CEN) 6-0, 7-5 to reach the B2 Singles back draw final against Daniel Grauel (NFS) tomorrow.
Pradeep Raja lost a hard fought battle to Igor Braga (6-0, 6-7 (6), 6-4) in the round of 16 but bounced back to defeat Tim Portnov (JMU) 6-1, 6-0 and reach the C1 Singles back draw final against Logan Walker (UNCG).
